Scavini has been manufacturing precision petroleum testing instruments in Baveno, Italy since 1957, with cold properties analysis forming a core part of the product range. Wirsam supplies Scavini’s complete cold properties instrument range, covering the four key low-temperature parameters that determine fuel and lubricant performance in cold climates.

Cloud Point and Pour Point Testers — Scavini offers two main configurations. The automatic CPPPplus is an innovative, compact stand-alone instrument with an integrated cryostat (CFC/HCFC-free) capable of reaching –120 °C. It features a touchscreen interface, simultaneous cloud and pour point detection in a single test run, and USB and Ethernet connectivity for printer or LIMS integration. The separate Stirling-cooled Cloud and Pour Point Bath is the first compact benchtop unit of its type on the market, using Stirling cooling compressors to reach –70 °C with very low power consumption (under 0.5 kW), no hazardous refrigerants and a working temperature reached in under one hour. Available in one-, two-, three-, four- and five-position configurations. Both comply with ASTM D2500 (cloud point), ASTM D97 (pour point), IP 15, IP 219, ISO 3015 and ISO 3016.

Cold Filter Plugging Point (CFPP) Testers — Automatic CFPP instruments determine the lowest temperature at which diesel and heating fuels will still flow freely through a standardised filtration device. Compliant with ASTM D6371, EN 116, IP 309 and related methods.

Freeze Point Testers — Used for aviation fuels and other products where the freezing point is a critical specification parameter. Compliant with ASTM D2386, D5901, D5972, D7689 and IP 16 methods.

All Scavini cold properties instruments are manufactured in-house — from mechanical structures and frames through to wiring and electronics — ensuring tight tolerances and long-term reliability. They are used in petroleum refineries, fuel blending terminals, lubricant manufacturers, aviation fuel QC facilities and independent testing laboratories worldwide.
