Product Overview
The Eralytics ERACHECK ECO determines oil in water by direct infrared transmission measurement of the extraction solvent, without the evaporation step required by older gravimetric and solvent-exchange methods. It measures in FULL COMPLIANCE with ASTM D8193, the current infrared oil-in-water standard developed with eralytics technology.
The extraction solvent is cyclohexane — inexpensive, readily available and CFC-free. This is an important distinction: ERACHECK ECO is a CFC-free instrument, not a solvent-free one. A typical determination uses roughly 15 mL of cyclohexane per water sample.
ISO 9377-2, ASTM D7678, ASTM D3921, ASTM D4281, ASTM D7066, EPA 1664A, EPA 1664B, EPA 9071B, ISO 16703, DIN 38409, EN 14039 and IP 426 are supported as CORRELATION methods with pre-installed factory calibrations. The instrument does not claim full compliance with those procedures.
The measuring range covers 0–1 000 mg/L oil-in-water at the standard 900:50 mL ratio, extending to 18 000 mg/L for liquids and 36 000 mg/kg for soils. The method detection limit is 0.5 mg/L with a repeatability standard deviation of 0.2 mg/L. TPH, TOG and FOG can all be reported. Automated sample introduction, an optional 10-position autosampler and solid phase extraction give the throughput needed by refinery, petrochemical, municipal and environmental laboratories.
Note: eralytics also offers the portable ERACHECK X for on-site oil-in-water testing with manual syringe filling and reduced solvent and glassware requirements.
