Product Overview

The Eralytics ERAFLASH is a continuously closed cup flash point tester built around the CCCFP principle defined in ASTM D6450 and ASTM D7094. A sample of only 1–2 mL is sealed in a closed measuring chamber for the entire measurement. An electric arc ignites the sample vapour and the analyser detects the flash point from the pressure change inside the cup. Because the chamber is closed and the sample volume is tiny, there is no open flame, no glowing wire and no fire hazard — which makes the ERAFLASH one of the safest flash point testers available.

The instrument measures in FULL COMPLIANCE with ASTM D6450, ASTM D7094, ASTM D8606, ISO 24966, IP 620 and SH/T 0768. It does not perform the Pensky-Martens (ASTM D93), TAG (ASTM D56) or Cleveland Open Cup (ASTM D92) procedures. Those methods, together with ISO 2719, ISO 3679, ISO 3680, ISO 13736, DIN 51758, IP 34, IP 170 and JIS K2265, are supported as CORRELATION test methods only.

An ASTM round robin proved that no statistically significant bias exists between ASTM D93 and ASTM D7094 for fuels and contaminated fuels, reporting a repeatability (r) of 4.1 °C for both methods and a reproducibility (R) of 5.5 °C for ASTM D7094 against 6.9 °C for ASTM D93. As a result ASTM D7094 is accepted in the specifications for Fuel Oils (ASTM D396), Diesel Fuel Oils (ASTM D975), Aviation Turbine Fuels (ASTM D1655), Gas Turbine Fuel Oils (ASTM D2880), Kerosene (ASTM D3699), Biodiesel Blends (ASTM D7467) and Synthesised Hydrocarbon Aviation Fuels (ASTM D7566).

Peltier Boost Technology® covers the full –25 °C to 420 °C range in a single analyser without external cooling, while Contamination Prevention Technology™ and QuickCal™ keep maintenance and calibration effort to a minimum. Combustion Graphics™ and the built-in QC mode give laboratories a direct view of sample quality and instrument performance.
