Product Overview
The HORIBA Partica LA-970 Series is the laser-diffraction-only model in the new Partica family, providing accurate and reproducible particle size distribution analysis across a total measurement range of 0.01–5,000 µm. The LA-970 uses the same dual-wavelength optical system as the LA-1000 — a 650 nm solid-state laser diode combined with a 405 nm LED — with multi-angle light-scattering detection and automatic optical alignment.
NIST-traceable calibration maintains ±0.6% accuracy against certified reference standards. The system fully complies with ISO 13320 (2020) for laser diffraction particle size analysis, ensuring reliable D10, D50 and D90 results for quality control, regulatory submissions and research applications.
The wet sampling system handles approximately 150 mL of dispersant with automated sample circulation, built-in ultrasonic dispersion and auto-dilution concentration control. The optional Powderjet Dry Powder Feeder extends capability to as-is dry powder analysis. Specialised accessories — MiniFlow for organic solvents (35 mL), Fraction Cell for rare samples (5–15 mL), High Concentration Cell for inks and battery electrode slurries, and Paste Cell for viscous media — provide exceptional versatility across different sample types and workflows.
HORIBA PLATINALINK software provides an intuitive measurement interface with data analysis displays and data integrity tools supporting FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliance for pharmaceutical and regulated laboratory environments. Laboratories requiring particle shape data in addition to size distribution can step up to the Partica LA-1000 Series, which adds the integrated dual-camera dynamic imaging system.
